I’m a Mormon, a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Every six months we get to watch & listen to our prophet and leaders in our church give us instruction. General conferences are the semiannual worldwide gatherings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church members gather to receive guidance and encouragement from Church leaders about gospel living based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
We don’t have TV service in our home. We do own a TV for gaming and movies and such but even then we don’t spend a ton of time just sitting and watching. As of recent years, you can now stream the broadcast live so we get to watch it at home. This weekend has 4-6 sessions each ~2 hours each. That’s a lot of sitting and watching in one weekend! I’ll be honest sometimes I have fallen asleep while listening. I blame it on my inactivity, plethora of snackage (real word…to me) and the speaker’s soothing voices. I know, no excuses.
I found to keep my mind engaged, it helps if my hands are busy. This last conference I took notes in a “church journaling style”. It’s kind of like a brainstorm, hand-lettering and all the feels on a sheet of paper. Writing things down has always helped me remember them better but this, oh man, has not only helped the inspiration and teachings stick with me, but they make me smile and feel encouraged every time I look at them.
I love sharing. I feel like if the things that make me happy could make someone else happy too and I share, then, we are growing together and connecting. I long for those feelings. So here are my notes from the Sunday sessions. *Bonus points if you can link which talk each of the drawings came from!
