Thankful Thursdays

Hello November! While I’m not at all excited about cold weather, I am excited for the onslaught of all things Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. (It also happens to be  the start of birthday season in our home) With Halloween behind us, I look forward to Thanksgiving. What I love about this time of year is the focus on the blessings we have. And then I love when that turns into giving to others and spreading the blessings all around. I engaged in another challenge on Instagram that i am so grateful for. It was an idea started by Helen […]

Pencils of Promise

I’ve joined a challenge on Instagram that benefits a charity called Pencils of Promise. I was so moved when I heard this story: (taken from Pencils of Promise website, direct link) It began with a question. A small boy begging in the streets of India. “What do you want most in the world?” “A pencil,” he replied. I reached into my backpack, handed him my pencil, and watched as a wave of possibility washed over him. A smile erupted and his eyes brightened. I then saw the profound power and promise brought through something as small as giving a pencil […]

Request and Suggest

Do you have a idea that you would like to see lettered and/or drawn out? I often participate in challenges and daily prompts to give direction to my practice and growth. Most of these come from Instagram and consequently,  this is where I post my work in progress and finished works photos. Most of the time these are posted as a sneak peek before they get added to the shop goodies. I love the variety these challenges offer and I’m always open to new ideas. If you have an idea or challenge for me, send it to me through my contact […]

So I’m kinda addicted to learning, I love it. I would love to be an official student forever. But I’m cheap and so I look for much more affordable options than a university. There are so many avenues to learn, some more structured than others. I enjoy a class setting and the structure it offers. One of my favorite avenues of classes has been Skillshare is an online community that offers a huge variety (10,000) of classes. I started out with the $0.99 three month trial, you can get this deal from a current premium member (link below). Everything […]

General Conference October 2016

I’m a Mormon, a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Every six months we get to watch & listen to our prophet and leaders in our church give us instruction. General conferences are the semiannual worldwide gatherings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church members gather to receive guidance and encouragement from Church leaders about gospel living based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. We don’t have TV service in our home. We do own a TV for gaming and movies and such but even then we don’t spend a ton of […]

Let’s talk creativity. By definition, creativity is this: cre·a·tiv·i·ty ˌkrēāˈtivədē/ noun the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work. Synonyms: inventiveness, imagination, innovation, innovativeness, originality, individuality; artistry, inspiration, vision; enterprise, initiative, resourcefulness Lot’s of people have told me “you are so creative!” And I agree, and then they add “I could never do that” and that’s when I disagree. I think we each were born with a creative muscle. Just like other muscles, there is a wide variety of stages to which each of our own creative muscle is developed. I was reading […]

Created to Create

The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Created to create. That is me. I find so much personal joy in creating and thoroughly enjoy experiencing and seeing what others create. There are so many things and ideas to contribute. Naturally, sharing creativity, connects us together. I want to share what brings me joy! Recently I heard of a conversation where someone thought that I was stealing someone’s idea of having a […]

Yes I just virtually shouted “welcome!” to you. I found my place! There is a place here for you too. There is room for all of us. I am so excited to be here! Really! *Warning: there are going to be a lot of exclamation points in this ramble. Continue on.* This adventure is combining so many of my loves. Family, faith, technology, design, sharing ideas, sharing laughter, smiles and hugs (virtual and physical). I can’t even describe this surreal feeling of embarking on a big, crazy dream and working it and watching it unfold and literally coming true! I’m […]
